Coal for Carmarthenshire?

Carmarthenshire County Council

Posted using ShareThis

This is very worrying indeed!
We need to STOP this NOW.

There is a lot to read through, so if anyone wants to help...feel free.

There is a public meeting, organised by MP Nia Griffiths, about the
proposed open cast mine at Pentremawr (between Pontyberem and Ponthenri).

The meeting is on Thursday 24th September at 7pm in Ponthenri Community
Hall, Bargoed Terrace, Ponthenri.

Please let anyone else who might be interested know about it too.

For those that are interested, the full planning application can be

it seems as though the council own a large part of the land, selling for open cast would not fit well with renewable energy policy or a fair few other policies I take it?

indeed! that would seem to be the case!!
There are so many policies and strategies in existence across Carmarthenshire, Welsh Assembly, UK and Europe - that directly contradict this planning application.

Coal is Dirty and Clean Coal is a lie. Coal is a non-renewable fossil fuel that is CARBON intensive.

- ANY mining and continued use of this material IS unsustainable.

Heading towards Copenhagen we should be reducing our use of coal and NOT encouraging more production.

Carmarthenshire should be bold enough to SAY NO TO NEW COAL.
